Jardin Secret: when film brings Oyonnax together
In 2018, a local cultural initiative brought young people together to make a short film. Conceived by Samir Boudount and directed by Kamal Chafi (KamC) with LEGENDZ RECORDZ, Jardin Secret was shot on the streets of Oyonnax before being screened at the Atmosphère cinema.
How the project started
It all began with an idea from Samir Boudount. Through Premier’Act, a cultural association focused on music and film, he invited teenagers from Oyonnax to take part in making a short film.
Casting took place in April 2018. In May, the young cast met at the Centre culturel Aragon for rehearsals, where the scenes took shape long before the first take.
Several local organizations joined Premier’Act on the project, from the ADSEA 01 youth outreach team to the City of Oyonnax. Blanche Pichavant, Youssef Elasri and Youness Tayek handled the organization.
Before it was a film, Jardin Secret was a meeting point between local teenagers, filmmaking and the cultural venues around them.
From project to film
Once rehearsals were over, the team moved on to the shoot, both outdoors and indoors.
Kamal Chafi, known as KamC, directed the film. With LEGENDZ RECORDZ, he also handled the shoot and the edit.
On sound, Youssef Elasri worked the boom and Sarando Peqini handled recording.
In the edit, the scenes shot with the young cast became a short film ready for its first public screening.

The screening at the Atmosphère cinema
On November 22, 2018, Jardin Secret was shown at the Atmosphère cinema in Oyonnax.
